To get the full picture of the former royal province of
Cracow you should not miss to visit Czestochowa with its Jasna Gora
monastery, Poland’s national shrine famous for the miraculous icon of
the Black Madonna (the famous Gothic painting of Our Lady).
This
famous sanctuary has been attracting not only pilgrims from all corners
of the country and beyond for centuries. Local monk will give you a
tour of the monastery which will include Chapel of the Miraculous
Picture, splendid Baroque Basilica, 17th century Knights’ Hall, Arsenal
and the Treasury. the Paulite Fathers' Monastery.
We need
something for our body too – lunch will be the best! The way to
Czestochowa called “On the Trail of Eagles’ Nests” will show us a
fantastic landscape of limestone rocks and the ruins of some Gothic -
Renaissance castles like Ogrodzieniec and Olsztyn , which are worth to
see too.
