Park with bridges, summer-houses and statues.
Then short drive
to Wilanow, visit to the interiors of the Baroque residence of King
John III Sobieski the famous conqueror of the Turks at the battle of
Vienna in 1683. Wilanów served as the summer retreat for King Jan III
Sobieski, nowadays it is the hoi polloi though that enjoy the Baroque
splendour of the palace complex. Built in the 17th Century and inspired
by Versailles, it was extensively damaged during the war and repairs
were only completed in 1964. Fortunately you can barely tell. The palace
is also home to the Poster Museum, splendid gardens and pesky curators.
